Zach Porter, MA LPCC-S
Secretary
Zach is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Supervisor. He completed his Bachelors in Psychology at Morehead State University and then went on to complete his Masters in Professional Counseling through the University of the Cumberlands. Since completing training he has worked in Eastern Kentucky in clinic and supervisory roles. Most recently having opened Elysium Counseling, LLC.
When he is not working you will find him pursing one of his many passions with or near his wife, their two children and dog-child Panzer the Schnauzer. He freely admits that hobbies often become passions and range from out door adventures of hiking, shooting, playing golf, and running OCR’s to indoor gym workouts, gaming, reading and writing sci-fi and fantasy stories or playing music.
When asked why he chose to be part of livableYOU, Zach says the timing coincided with his professional journey and personal ideals for Appalachia. Specifically he said “I feel like so many people who are privileged enough to receive an advanced education take that and leave Appalachia for one reason or another. I believe that Appalachia has a culture that’s unique to anywhere else in the world and I want to use my experience, skills, and education to help “my people” in some of their darkest times. I want to keep my services affordable for this area, and let people know that medicine can be a solution but shouldn’t be the first and only option provided. I’m so excited to join a group of likeminded professionals [through livableYOU] who understand that there are holistic options that are empirically proven to be more effective than medication, and bring that knowledge back to Appalachia.”
