Basics to get you started

  1. Breathe deeply.

    None of us regularly breathe deeply enough. However, this often overlooked luxury has the power to refocus our minds, decrease our anxiety and improve the tension in our muscles. Start with filling your lungs slowly and exhaling slowly. With each exhale let your body relax for the moment. Repeat this a few times through the day and anytime you’re feeling anxious or stressed.

  2. Less is more.

    Art reflects the heart of the artist. Nature is no exception. However, if we fail to intentionally give thought or notice to the natural beauty surrounding us daily, it will not force its presence upon us. In a world that is overrun with technology, the “next new thing” can dangle a tantalizing promise of worth, success, or purpose. Yet, the more we swipe, scroll or watch only drags us further from the source of our being. To stop this downward spiral in its tracks, put the phone down and get more nature. Take a hike - literally! Or simply sit and watch clouds go by. No matter what you choose, simply embrace nature and quiet renewal on a regular basis.

  3. In with the good.

    Fill your mind and heart with good. We all hear enough negativity, hatred, opinions and other garbage that simply does not add value to our lives. Yet, all too often we don’t choose to counter that intentionally. Grab a good book or listen to an encouraging podcast. Remind yourself of Truth that is steadfast and can cut through the lies we are told and often tell ourselves. Intentionally set time aside each day to fill your mind with good.
